Miracle of being a Mom...

I read this and had to post it. This is exactly how I feel about being a mom. It is so amazing and such a precious thing to be a mom. With the marks on my stomach I can tell where each pregnancy started and ended. Now that it has been four and half years since my last "stretch," my marks are slowly fading, and I am sad. I wear my
stretch marks with pride at the miracle my body helped create!

The following is an amazing right up from my very talented friend Teressa Welborne:
Have you ever added up your birth weights before? Of all your children? I have. My four children weighed:

My oldest: 8 pounds 12 ounces
Twin #1: 9 pounds, 1 ounce
Twin #2: 7 pounds, 14 ounces
My youngest: 9 pounds, 9 ounces.

That's 35 pounds, 4 ounces of babies all together. Hot dang. How do you wrap your mind around that, much less your tummy?

The black typed numbers read like text book math to me. But my tummy and heart know the truth: it was much more than that.

Yep, my tummy has been there. It's been stretched to next week, to China, the moon, and the galaxies beyond. And lived to tell it's story.

There's a brown freckle on my right thigh, near my knee, that my stomach grew to and kissed for a season while sheltering my twins, before shrinking back, empty, void. For forty weeks I rocked my twins like Noah and his ark out to sea, only longer.

Heavy,
full,
waiting,
searching for a sign of land.

On my tummy hangs an invisible sign: “Was home to full term twins and two other singletons.” The sign took years to build. It was rough and splintery at first. And it took lots of nails and sanding and time. Now, when I tell my pregnancy, birth, and post-postpartum stories, others see the sign, too. It is beautiful. And some days, still, I marvel that I made it.

My tummy housed my children time and again. It was a good house, a strong house, a house of bricks. One that I worried at first might be a house of straw. But full term after full term, baby after baby, I discovered it's magic.

Nothing, no wind, no wolf, no one person could blow it down. And I'm thankful. Like I'm thankful for these size nine feet that carry me in circles, this racing heart that pumps my blood, and these blue eyes that take in the black and white picture of all my children gathered as if petals of a flower, and the white gold wedding ring on my left ring finger that matches Ben's perfectly.

All parts of a greater whole. A whole that I am part of.

My body wrote it's own poetry in stretch marks across my tummy and hips. A testament, a tattoo, engraving the words:

motherhood,
selflessness,
love
...on my psyche like initials carved into a tree.

Part of me wanted to resist these words {motherhood, selflessness, love}, and still does from time to time. Part of me wants to shrink away and forget, become a dandelion puff on the wind and float away, alone and free. But I'm anchored by these words, these children, these truths, that ring through me like a bell. They are as part of me as my breath, my gentle snore Ben says he sometimes hears late at night, and my mama roar, “Come here now, child.”

I carry these engravings with me across this broad and rocky road we call life, shaking it with my story again and again like a giant, surging and cracking the earth, meeting strength and possibility with each step.

I am a mama giant with a tired, stretched out tummy to prove it. And I am thankful.

Lazy, Hazy Summer Days

Is this not the cutest picture! This is how my kids have spent some of the summer. My Friend, Kirsten, opened a Nutrition Club that myself and Nan help run. The kids get to hang out alot there and are always such troopers (and good dishwashers!) Here is Chayse doing sidewalk chalk outside the front door. Chloe is in the background playing her DS. I love our small little Main Street.

Walkin' in the River... (Be advised..it's gross!!)

We went to a friends house to swim in the river. Things were going great when Crea and his cute little friend Maddie came floating up saying that Crea stepped on a rock and cut his foot. Not thinking it was anything big, we went to look at it, were we ever wrong!! It was about a five inch slice right on the ball of his foot. We decided that he would probably need stitches. I took him in while my awesome friend, Abby, kept the girls... the following is Crea's first experiance getting stitches! I have to say though he was a very strong boy and handled it like a champ!

Women's Retreat 2009

So Our stake, last year, had the inspired idea to hold a "women's retreat" every summer! I have to tell you, we look forward to it every year! It is such a great way to fill our buckets. We have great physical food and spiritual food. I have such a great group of friends too! Our campsite is literally the furthest out of camp because we are to loud for some of the ladies up there! I love every minute of it though. This year we went to bed a little early, just after 4 am, but it is really such a great filler for the year!
Anyway hears to good friends, good learning, and good fun! Also the best scenery ever!!
Can't wait till next year :o)

Decade One Down

Well we did it! June 11th was our big 10 anniversary! I can't believe how fast it went. We have so many great memories of our first 10 years! What a ride it has been. We have lived in 3 different towns, had 3 different kids, learned about each other, how to help each other and how to hinder each other. We have had many ups and downs, but at the end of the day, how lucky am I that I got to marry my best friend and enjoy the start of our eternal adventure together!
Thanks for all the memories hunny! I look forward to the next ten years! I love you!

Baseball Games...

I finally am posting pictures of Crea in an actual game not just on Opening Day! The season is over for him as of tonight. They played a great game. It is amazing how much the team has improved over the season. We are very proud of you Tay-Tay!!

Sleeping Beauty Part 2

Here are some more crazy pictures of my little sleeping beauty... well the one isn't crazy, it's just weird! That doll scares Cam to death when he sees it laying on the floor at night :o)

Cam's injuries... Caution if you get grossed out easy!

Cam got a pretty nasty rope burn while he was roping about a week ago.. He did this on his first run, and then came back, roped about 4 more hours, then took second!! He refused to go to the doctor and he was going to bandage it with electrical tape. He is crazy! But it is healing really well so what do you do!!

My Little Sleeping Beauty

Nothing like a hard days work!!

I wonder if this is what they mean when the say..."All the comforts of home.."

My Rewards of Motherhood!

Last night I hadn't heard from any of my kids for a little while, which is usually never a good thing! I started searching the house for them when I walked by the front windows and spotted them playing baseball together! A quote came to my mind:

"Moments are the molecules of eternity"
~Neal A. Maxwell

Quietly watching them and hearing their laughter was definitely a moment I will remember for eternity. It is truly a great blessing to watch your children enjoy spending time toghether, I hope they will always know how lucky they are to have one another.

Batter Up!

Coach-Pitch season is now in full swing. Which means that we are crazy busy! Chloe is on the Timberwolves this year! They are purple just for Chloe, because she is the only girl on the team! She is having a great season so far, last night she hit a strong single and a great double. They have alot of heavy hitters on their team! It should be a great season!

Our Blackfoot Easter Festivities!

For the past couple years, our Easter tradition has been to go to Blackfoot and spend the weekend with Cam's family. Gramma Sue- being the crafty women she is- gets a whole bunch of wooden crafts for the grandkids to do and also about 4 dozen eggs to dye! They have such a fun time! They all love letting their creative juices flo. This year the Mom's had a craft to- we did cute little frames with the kids names on them. After our craft extravaganza we get treated with lunch, this usually includes Dave's yummy "Turkey Lips". Which I could personnally live off of!!
My kids sleep over and they put all their eggs and Easter baskets on the livingroom table, so they can see where that sneaky bunny will hide them in the morning!
Easter is such a wonderful time! It such a great time to spend with family and also a great time to teach your children about all that the Savior did for you. It always gives me such joy to see their little eyes full of wonder that someone would do so much for them. I am so greatful for all that He did for me so that I am able to be with my family for eternity. Just that knowledge alone brings such peace to my life.
Happy Easter!!

Good Ride, Cowboy

We got some sad news this morning... One of Chayse's very special friends(a ropin buddy) was killed last night in a car accident. He was on his way to a bull riding and made a fatal choice to get in the car with a drunk driver. He was so young and such a great kid, what a shock. He was always so great with Chayse and loved to do things with her and for her. She loved him and always would talk about "Her Brad". One night last fall, Chayse (being Chayse) leaned against the wood burning stove in the tack room. Although there was about 15 people in the little room and several alot closer, as soon as he heard her scream he was at her side and then ran to get something to make the pain go away... This was their relationship. He will be missed by our family and especially little Chayse. We love you Brad.

Here we go to the ER again....

After lecture our older kids that it isn't very smart to put things in your nose no matter how big or small to shoot them out- Chayse started saying "Ouch..Ouch" after assessing the situation I realized I should have been talking to her! She had taken part of her plastic bag off her Subway toy and shoved it up her nose! In the process of trying to get it out she had shoved it as far up there as it would go... After Cam worked on it for awhile with no progress we decided that it was time to go to the ER... again... We had taken Chayse just the week before to get a penicilian shot because she kept throwing up her Strep Throat medicine. The Doctor got some foot long tweezers and had it out within a few seconds. What a silly girl we have! We are glad she is not permantly scarred this time!!

Play Ball

Well Crea's baseball season has officially been kicked off! He gets to play for the Braves this year and is very excited! His first game is Wednesday so we will see how it goes, but so far it looks like he will have a great season!

Rest in Peace Tweety...

A very sad Chayse informed me today that Tweety died. After further questioning I found out that Tweety was her imaginary friend! Tweety was a small blackbird and his beak was "black like his self". It was the cutest thing ever. Apparently, Tweety lived at our old house and then came to this house and then died today. There is nothing more tragic than a child loosing thier imaginary friend.

Ode to Chloe...

In Chloe's little "about me" section under her picture, I mention that she is the little Mother of the house! Yes, she even keeps me in line! I thought I would show you all what I mean- this picture (taken on the walk to the beach in Cabo) is typical Chloe, with the purse and sunglasses on her head and a tired Chayse in tow!Saying, "Come on Chayse, you need to walk, your doing good, just a little farther.." She will seriously make a great Mom!
I don't put things about her very often because, well, I guess I'm a bad mom, but honestly Crea and Chayse are the characters who always seem to be doing something, while little Miss Chloe is in the background quietly keeping everyone and everything in line!! We are definetely blessed to have her. So this is our "Ode to Chloe"!

Mamma Mia..

So, like everyone else in the world our family is completely obsessed with Mamma Mia! Chayse sings the songs off the soundtrack all day long and usually at the top of her lungs. One of the songs she was singing today touched my heart and I had to share my feelings about it! It goes: "Slipping through my fingers all the time, I try to capture every minute, the feeling in it, slipping through my fingers all the time..." One of my biggest frustrations in life is people who don't realize how important every second is. Every single experiance in life whether good or bad should be cherished. This is always on my mind this time of year... and with my little family growing so quickly I do cherish every minute... yes, even the minutes I am counting to ten so I don't beat my kids to death!!
"Live each moment as your last" is truly the greatest advice ever! When my kids argue, the main thing I try to teach them to remember is..."Is it worth it?" I tell them is this really going to matter tomorrow? Is making your sister feel bad and seeing her cry really going solve this situation?
Please cherish every minute... it does slip through your fingers all the time, whether it is a life cut short or a child simply becoming an adult. Realize each moment is a gift and should be treated as such.

Cruise Slide show!

Disneyland Here We Come...

Before we went on the Cruise we decided to go to Disneyland with the kids and my Parents! We told the kids about a year in advance that we were going to go and that they would need to save their money to help pay to get in and get souvenirs and things. I was so proud of them because in munchkin time a year in advance is like nonexistant, yet they saved every penny they got in that year without hesitation (even lil' Chayse) and they ended up saving over $350 dollars!

These are some of our collection of photos from that day- It actually turned out to be a great day. It rained the entire day, with the exception of about 1 hour total! But it kept the lines done to almost nothing and even though we were soaking wet and cold alot of the time- none of the kids complained one time- another proud moment!!

A few highlights or funny parts of the day were Dad, Crea, Chloe, and I strategicly placing Cam at the front of Splash Mountain- He heroicly blocked all of us from getting more wet as he took the brunt of that ride! Also we (as in Cam) kind of tricked Chayse into riding Big Thunder Mountain, after the first big turn of the ride Cam looked down at her to see how she was liking the ride and she looked up at him with her wide brown eyes and said "What the hell!!" then proceeded to scream (as in yell- not cry) after every other bump for the rest of the ride- Cam and I did have to wipe our own tears however from laughing so hard!! A highlight for the kids I think was getting the autographs of several of the characters! We bought them each an autograph book with a place for a photo as well as a signature and a pen- They were very excited to find different characters even in the pouring rain!! I do have to say that the highlight of my day was getting to experience it all through the eyes of my kids! Such magic- when we first walked into the park Crea looked back at me with wonder in his eyes and said "Mom, it's like it's own world... Look, they even have a fire station!" Oh, to be a kid again!

~If you notice in all the full body photos our pants are wet to about our knees~ Thank heavens for a smart Gramma who brought umbrellas or heaven knows how wet we would really be!

Chayse Turns 4!!

We celebrated Chayse's 4th birthday on Jan.30th
It was her first birthday party! We just had a couple
of her friends over to play games and have cake-
Most of her friends are crazy boys which she absolutely
keeps up with so even though it was a little chaotic
I think she had a great time! Happy Birthday Chayse!
